SEVEN FUN TOYS YOUR DOG REALLY LIKES

Grandma watches dogs play for hours every week so feels somewhat qualified to let you know which toys are the best.  At our daycare, these are the Never Fail entertainers over time.  Be advised that although a dog may not take to a toy at first that doesn’t mean it won’t be a favorite later. Dogs are weird that way.

BEST BUY – THE CARDBOARD CORE OF YOUR WRAPPING PAPER IS A GREAT CHEW TOY.

IQ TREAT BALL – our customers know how popular the “blue ball” is with daycare dogs IF they are food motivated and can stick with a project. Needs floor space to roll around.

PLANET DOG ORBEE TUFF EGGPLANT – put some dry dog food in it to get your dog interested. Our big dogs play keep-away with this toy when food is gone: we’ve had the same one for years.

SQUEAKER MAT TOY – this plush toy with multiple squeakers comes in various sizes but even tiny togs like the big size.  We have the alligator but there is a penguin out for the holidays. Prepare for your dog to take the squeakers out, of course, but the toy is fun even after it is half destroyed.

VIRTUALLY INDESTRUCTIBLE BALL – chewers will ruin it eventually but it is a great light weight toy that you can have indoors because it won’t hurt what it bangs into. It rolls funky: a good thing.

HIDE A BEE – people give this type toy to us because their dog doesn’t play with it but it is very popular in our small dog pen. (Big dogs like it but we don’t recommend it for them as the “bees” are small.)  It has three small toys that can be removed from the hive. There are many similar toys in different designs and they are all good. Loved by dogs bred to seek out small game.

TAIL TEASERS – not cheap but worth it if your dog will chase a fuzzy thing as you swing it from a stick. You can play with it indoors or out but it does require a person as well as a dog. Dogs with prey drive go nuts and will beg you to play with this great toy. Get extra fuzzy things and be prepared to add some string if your dog chews up the cord that is original.  With repairs and extra fuzzy things this toy will last a long time.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
